Poetry In the Trinity Rooms Cafe
This year at Trinity Festival Arts and Crafts, we are introducing ‘Village Verse’ who are reading their Poetry in Trinity Rooms Cafe at 2:30-2:50pm, and a different selection of their work at 3:30-3:50pm.

‘The Village Verse poetry group came together in lockdown. We are Jill Simpson, Angela Reddaway, Liz Nash and Helen Sadler. The group had met in a WEA creative writing class and agreed to continue meeting on Zoom. This was quite a challenge in itself!
We set ourselves a project of writing poems based on our villages: Jill in Markfield, Angela in Ruddington, Liz between Shepshed and Thringstone and Helen in Barrow on Soar. Then we arranged to compiled the poems into a book which we called Where We Live.

Producing the book has been a major learning curve for all of us but one we have enjoyed and even – occasionally - think about repeating and writing about where we used to live!’

1.    Kate Gibbs. Lino printing-art works, cards and gifts
My name is Kate and my business is called ‘Kate Gibbs Prints’. I use a method called Lino printing to create handprinted artworks, cards, gifts and commissions. My designs are inspired by nature, birds, animals, antiques, steam trains and where I live locally in Leicestershire. I have a creative background but have worked at the local Pre school for many years as a SEND Co. I have now returned to the arts with my Lino print business and hope to teach Lino printing locally.

2.    Kate Sharkey. Hand painted wooden toys.
I hand paint wooden toys and gifts which is a small business I started in 2020. This will be my 3rd year at the Holy Trinity Fair and one I look forward too very much not just as a stall holder but the whole event is wonderful.

3.    Caroline Drake. Handmade clay Christmas decorations and pots.
Drakes Crafty Nest will be there selling hand made Christmas decorations made from clay and hand painted terracotta pots for the home and garden.

4.    Sue Barker. Handmade bags and knitted goods, made for charity. 
I use donated material and do my best to help other people & good causes. At present I am making bags for the Baptist church. They are for girls in Africa. I will try and fix, mend and help for any good causes. I enjoy my Friday mornings at the Baptist ‘knit & natter’, and once a month Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church. I learn new ideas and help others to solve or share ideas.

6.    David Guarasci. Woodturned items from different woods.
My name is David and I live in Sileby. I first got into wood turning about 4 years ago after being invited for some lessons by a work colleague. I enjoyed it but didn’t have the time or money to start up. Then covid hit and I was stuck at home for a long period of time. I bought a hobby lathe and never looked back. I really enjoy it and have developed my skills. Please take a look at my Facebook page called DaGuar Turning.

7.    Maddison. Face Painting. 
My name is Maddison, I’m a hairdresser and makeup artist. I specialise in all aspects of hair and makeup from your gory Halloween looks to a glamorous bride. I have a degree in Artistic Makeup And Special Effects which has helped me pursue my passion within this industry. Apart from hair and makeup, I’m a big animal lover and love any sort of pasta dish.

8.    Anne Kingham. Glass art. 
I love working with glass because the colours are so vibrant and the way light comes through is stunning. My items for sale can be viewed in person without the slightest obligation or as photos attached to an email.

9.    Sandra Wilkinson. Silver jewellery. 
My name is Sandra and I live in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir. I enjoy creating earrings and pendants from recycled silver and copper. I also design and make pieces from sea glass that I’ve collected on my numerous trips to the beach. Every piece in my collection is handcrafted and unique.

10.    Catherine Reeves. Barrow honey and beeswax melts. 
Here at Coteswick Crafts, we love everything bee related! We produce local honey and use the beeswax to create handmade beeswax melts, candles, soaps and lip balms. We love the special properties that beeswax and honey possess to help combat seasonal allergies caused by pollen. To help the bees, we grow flowers, fruits and vegetables so all our produce is homegrown, free of pesticides and very tasty!  Keep an eye on our instagram for upcoming workshops for Christmas!
 

11.    Stewart Pawley.  3D Artworks and greeting cards.
I create unique 3D family, pet and architectural portraits on a commission basis using water colour washes and permanent inks. I also paint original illustrative art using acrylic on board (mounted in deep frames). Barrow upon Soar greeting cards will also be available on the day. 
You can see my work in local pubs and cafes and at Fosse Park as part of the Fosse Foxes Art Trail. There are 14 storybook style paintings on the walls of Rainbows Hospice. The memorial bench in the village was also made based on my original design sketches.

12.    Irene Goodrich. Live painting. Proceeds to Water Aid.
I am an amateur Artist and I paint in watercolour and acrylic.  My subjects originate from my own holiday photos, some of which are from Africa. All of the proceeds from my paintings goes to WaterAid. WaterAid works towards providing pumps, wells and sanitation in the third world.
 

13.    The Children’s Society. Charity Christmas cards. 
Richard Hudson sells Christmas cards for this national charity which ‘fights for the hope and happiness of young people when it’s threatened by abuse, exploitation and neglect.’
 

14.    Neema Crafts. Handmade items by charity in  Tanzania.
Holy Trinity Church supports this charity in Tanzania which provides training and employment opportunities for over 100 people with disabilities, and aims to change negative attitudes towards disability.
 

15.    Humphrey Perkins School. Art exhibition.
Humphrey Perkins art department is so proud to have the opportunity to showcase the amazing art of last year’s GCSE students, whose hard work has been validated by the excellent results they achieved. We are lucky to have been able to support such brilliant, young talents.  
 

16.    Julie Tyler. Homefired glass jewellery. 
I make fused glass mementoes, decorations and jewellery using a microwave kiln. It is a wonderful, mindful and creative past time and has zero waste glass as everything can be re-fused.
