JOSEPH GEARY

Flute

Joseph is a music scholar at Loughborough Grammar School and has been playing the flute since the age of 7. Initial studies were with Ailsa Gillies-Loach and since May 2021 with Anna Pope in London. 

2023 has been a very busy year so far - Joseph was awarded the Bardi Orchestra Young Musician of the Year for 2023 and in January, performed the Mozart Flute Concerto in D with them. He was awarded 1st place in the British Flute Society’s Young Performer competition in February, and performed a solo recital in Sheffield Cathedral in March. In June, he performed the Reinecke Flute Concerto with the Loughborough Orchestra and in September performed the CPE Bach Flute Concerto in D minor in London.

He has recently been performing with the English Schools’ Orchestra (including the Rite of Spring) and has previously been a member of the National Schools’ Symphony Orchestra. Joseph attained a DipLCM performance diploma in May 2021 and has recently been awarded an LTCL in flute performance. 
Joseph is involved in many musical activities at the Loughborough Schools Foundation. He is also a keen singer and has a strong interest in early music. Alongside his musical studies, he is also taking French and Spanish at A-level. He has also written a dissertation on the historic flute and its repertoire.

EDIE BOTT

Cello

Edie is currently studying for her GCSEs in Year 11. Her musical journey began at the age of 4 when she began cello lessons with Leicester Suzuki teacher Jane Sherwood. At the age of 7 Edie had the opportunity to perform at the Royal Albert Hall.

Edie passed her Grade 8 exam in 2021 with Distinction. She has successfully auditioned for the National Children’s Orchestra, playing with the Main Orchestra in venues including the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and Woolwich Works in London.

Edie currently studies under Sarah Huson-Whyte in Southwell and is looking at Junior Conservatoire and residential music schools as possible options for 6th Form.

Edie’s  accompanist for her performance at Trinity Festival will be John Gull. John  has mentored Edie and two other gifted young musicians in a Baroque trio, The Eastwood Ensemble, and is one of the founders of Leicester Music Fest - an organisation providing high-quality and accessible performance opportunities for young people and amateur musicians in Leicester.

EDWARD BLACK

Violin

Edward (14) plays the violin in  the Nottingham Youth Orchestra, East Midlands Youth Strings Orchestra and at school.  He also loves to sing, and has performed regularly as a soloist, including singing Walking in the Air at Nottingham Concert Hall last year.  He sings in the National Youth Choir (Boys' Choir), as well as the church choir of All Saints and Holy Trinity, Loughborough.  Edward also plays the piano and has recently started to play the viola.

EDWARD GOLDSMITH

Pianist and Drummer

Edward Goldsmith is a pianist and drummer, currently working towards his piano grade 8. After starting piano with the app "Simply Piano", he began lessons with Chris White when Edward moved to Queniborough Primary School in Year 4. Chris still teaches Edward who is now in year 8 at Wreake Academy. He especially enjoys playing ragtime and jazz, and dueting with his grandfather on the ukulele.

MOTION VOICES

Lizzie Bywater-Florance

After training in both dance and singing as a child, Lizzie studied Musical Theatre professionally in Nottingham and has a Higher Diploma with the London College of Music. After training, Lizzie went on to travel parts of Europe working for TUI as the lead singer and dancer in multiple productions including, ‘One Way Broadway’, ‘Totally 80's’ and ‘A Night At The Movies’. She continues to perform in Musical Theatre productions locally while her focus is now teaching.

Over the past three years Lizzie has been giving 1-2-1 singing lessons privately and directing choirs and groups in an education setting, working with children ages 4+ and adults. Her focus is in improving vocal technique and performance skills. Some of her students take musical theatre exams and do competitions and others come to their lessons just for fun and to improve.

Lizzie also teaches Ballet Technique and Street at Motion Dance Co. and choreographs the festivals/competition team, with Danielle, choreographing solos and small group numbers in jazz, lyrical, tap and song & dance.

MOTION DANCE

Amy Eccles

Amy has trained with the AAD since the age of 3. At 18 she gained a scholarship for a 3 year Musical Theatre Diploma Course at Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama. This gave her experience of performing in multiple productions at many prestigious venues.

After her training Amy worked as a professional extra on many different TV shows and films. Since gaining her teaching qualifications Amy has successfully taught dance since 2003, first teaching for Stagecoach and then going on to open her own dance school, Motion Dance Company in 2008, which has seen pupils go on to professional training and work in the industry.

Amy teaches all AAD syllabus work in tap, ballet, modern and acrobatics helping the pupils to gain high grades in their exams. She also choreographs the AAD Awards Day Troupe every year which competes in Blackpool.
